Building Digital Resilience: Cyber Safety and Social Media Awareness Seminar for Adolescent Girls in Gujarat

Introduction: Adolescent girls are increasingly using social media platforms, which makes them vulnerable to various cyber threats such as cyberbullying, online harassment, and identity theft. To address these concerns, our project aims to conduct a seminar on cyber safety and social media awareness for adolescent girls in Gujarat.

Project Description: The seminar will cover various topics such as the safe use of social media, identifying and avoiding online threats, and understanding the consequences of inappropriate online behavior. The project team will collaborate with schools and community centers to reach out to adolescent girls across Gujarat. The seminar will be conducted by cybersecurity experts who will provide practical guidance and interactive sessions to help adolescent girls become digitally resilient.

Impact: By providing adolescent girls with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves online, we aim to increase their digital resilience and reduce their vulnerability to cyber threats. The seminar will also help in creating awareness about cyber safety among parents and caregivers, who can play an active role in ensuring the safety of their children online. This project will empower adolescent girls to use social media platforms in a responsible and safe manner.

 “Sahay-Sahyog”: Livelihood Support for Widows in Ahmedabad District, Gujarat

Introduction: The Sahay-Sahyog project is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at providing livelihood support to widows in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat. The project is being undertaken in close association with the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Project Description: The project aims to provide widows with supporting kits for various livelihood options, including sewing machines, beauty parlour kits, and laari (vegetable selling) kits. The laari kits are especially important as they can help women sell vegetables and fruits in nearby markets. Additionally, the project team will also provide training to the women on how to use the kits and run their businesses effectively.

Impact: Through the Sahay-Sahyog project, we aim to provide sustainable livelihood options to widows in the region. This will not only help them become financially independent but also contribute to the growth of their communities. The project will also create opportunities for the women to interact with each other, share their experiences, and build a supportive network.

Conclusion: The Sahay-Sahyog project is a crucial step towards empowering widows in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat. The project will provide them with the necessary tools and resources to start their businesses and lead a dignified life. Breaking the Cycle of Gender-Based Violence and Abuse: Empowering Women, Girls, and Children through Awareness Seminars in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, and Botad Districts, Gujarat.

Introduction: The project aims to create a safer and more supportive environment for women, girls, and children in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, and Botad districts of Gujarat. The goal is to break the cycle of silence and stigma surrounding gender-based violence and abuse, and foster a culture of empowerment and respect in the community. The project will conduct awareness seminars to educate women, victims, girls, NGO representatives, volunteers, and company representatives about domestic violence, prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace, and POCSO Act. The project also aims to provide information about legal measures available for victims and government assistance, and information about various schemes.

Project Description: The project will engage with civil society organizations, government entities, and the women and child development ministry to design an effective and sensitive program that addresses the specific challenges faced by victims, girls, women, and children in the region. The project will ensure that the seminars are conducted in a safe and inclusive environment that encourages participation from all attendees, regardless of their gender or other identities. The project team will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program through pre- and post-seminar surveys. The expected outcomes of the project include increased knowledge and awareness of Domestic Violence Act, POSH Act, and POCSO Act in the community, as well as increased reporting of crimes and decreased victimization.

Impact: The project will empower women, girls, and children in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, and Botad districts of Gujarat to speak out against gender-based violence and abuse. The seminars will equip them with knowledge of their rights and the legal measures available to them. The project will also sensitize the community towards issues of gender-based violence and abuse and break the cycle of silence and stigma. Empowering Girls’ Education: Promoting Menstrual Hygiene in Government Schools

Introduction: Education is a key factor in achieving sustainable development goals, and it is crucial to ensure that adolescent girls are not left behind. Unfortunately, in India, many girls drop out of school due to various reasons, including menstruation-related issues. A report by AC Nielsen and Plan India found that 23% of girls drop out of school when they reach puberty, with menstruation being the biggest cause of absenteeism, accounting for 20%. Additionally, 70% of girls in India do not know what menstruation is before they get their first period, according to a report by ICRM. The aim of this project is to address the issue of menstrual hygiene management in government schools for adolescent girls in order to increase school attendance and reduce the dropout ratio.

Project Description: The project will target girls in classes 6, 7, and 8 in government schools in Gujarat, India. The program will focus on increasing awareness about menstruation and hygiene practices during menstruation. It will also aim to eliminate the stigma and taboo related to menstruation. Additionally, the program will increase the availability and accessibility of sanitary napkins in schools. The program will actively engage with stakeholders, including adolescent girls, school teachers, and mothers, to ensure that misinformation about menstrual health and hygiene is eliminated. Girls will be provided with information and resources to help them manage their menstruation with dignity, and they will be encouraged to continue their education with the support of their mothers and teachers.

Impact: The project aims to increase school attendance and reduce the dropout ratio for adolescent girls. By increasing awareness about menstrual hygiene management and providing girls with the resources they need to manage their menstruation, we hope to reduce absenteeism related to menstruation. Additionally, by eliminating the stigma and taboo related to menstruation, we hope to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all girls. The program’s success will be measured through attendance records and feedback from girls, teachers, and mothers.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign: Empowering Girls through Education and Awareness

Introduction: Our NGO has launched a CSR project with the financial assistance from corporates in support of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign, a flagship program of the Government of India aimed at promoting gender equality and education for girls. The project seeks to empower girls through education and awareness, and promote the value and importance of the girl child in society.

Project Description: The project will focus on increasing enrollment and retention of girls in schools, and creating awareness about the importance of education for girls. We will conduct community-based awareness programs, workshops and campaigns to sensitize parents and community leaders on the benefits of educating girls, and dispel myths and misconceptions related to gender roles and education. We will also provide scholarships and other financial support to girls from marginalized communities to ensure that they have access to quality education with the support from corporates/companies.

Impact: The project aims to have a significant impact on the lives of girls and their families, and contribute to a more equitable and just society. By increasing enrollment and retention of girls in schools, we hope to reduce the gender gap in education and promote a more inclusive society. The project will also create awareness and sensitivity about gender roles and norms, and help in reducing discrimination and violence against girls and women.

Conclusion: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign is a crucial initiative in the promotion of gender equality and education for girls in India. Our NGO is proud to support this campaign and contribute to its success through this CSR project. CSR Project for Renovation of Nari Gruh for Mentally Challenged and HIV Positive Women at Ahmedabad

Introduction: The Nari Gruh is a state home for women located at Odhav, Ahmedabad, catering to the primary needs of shelter, food, clothing, medical treatment, and care of women in distress without any social or economic support. The primary objective is to provide emotional strength and legal aid, enable them to regain confidence, start their lives afresh with dignity and conviction, and act as a support system that understands and meets various requirements of women in distress.

Project Description: The Nari Gruh requires refurbishing, renovation, and modernization to provide adequate facilities for the entertainment and recreation of inmates, skill up-gradation, legal resettlement and rehabilitation, food and nutrition, and legal aid. The infrastructure requires up-gradation in areas such as garden with fencing and sitting areas, exercise equipment, life and skill training, recreational activities and television, dining hall modernization, industrial washing machine, facility for skill development and rehabilitation, furniture and beds, kitchen furniture and kitchen storage, kitchen up-gradation and cooking facilities, kitchen equipment, fire protection equipment, interiors works, flooring repairing works, upgrading of sanitary facility and drinking water, and shelter home hall, conference room and office furniture.

Impact: The project aims to transform the lives of mentally challenged and HIV-positive women, leading to higher self-esteem levels, a higher level of personal self-sufficiency, and improvement in well-being. The anticipated outcome of the project includes a distinct change in the personality of the women, which can be transformational.

Conclusion: The renovation of Nari Gruh will enable women in distress to live a dignified life and provide them with opportunities for skill development, rehabilitation, and legal aid. The project will help promote gender equality, empower women, and set up homes and hostels for women. The Gujarat Rajya Gram Vikas Samiti, along with the Women and Child Development Department, has carefully worked out various options, designs, and projects to suit the requirements of Nari Gruh, where CSR interventions will be of great benefit.
